In 2001 my husband and I were in the process of changing everything about our lives.
Eight years before that, we were pursuing some dreams. Things needed to change. We had two young children that need us more than we needed to pursue our dreams. We put those dreams on hold and bought our first house. My husband found employment in the corporate tech world.
For 20 years his employment provided for all needs, adventurers, and wants. It was hard to transition into that way of life. It was not how we thought life wouldFor 20 years his employment provided for all needs, adventurers, and wants. It was hard to transition into that way of life. It was not how we thought life would be for us. I know it was harder on him than me, but we decided it was time to turn our hearts to our family. To invest in us. To love on our kids. be for us. I know it was harder on him than me, but we decided it was time to turn our hearts to our family. To invest in us. To love on our kids.
We got through that by doing life together, being available to help each other with errands, lend a listening ear when the day was extra long, and having some fun along the way. It became a life that we enjoyed, were proud to call ours, and used as a foundation for life. Our children grew up well and happy
As empty-nesters, my husband and I began to dream again. To settle into a life that contained just the two of us. Now we discover our lives are changing again.
In March of 2021, my husband was laid off. He has joined the masses that have been affected by COVID 19. It has hit us pretty hard. Over the last 22 years my husband only worked for 3 companies. For the first 17 years my husband worked for one company. He entered that company at the bottom, with no college degree, and worked his way up the ladder. That company sent him to his second employer to deliver a team of technology experts. After that he took a risk on a smaller company to make a minor career change. Now he is back at the beginning trying to find a job that will support us. It is 2001 all over again.
It’s a different world out there. We are not too sure where we fit. We are just at the beginning of this process.
