Remnants of Grace

Decorating for the holidays gives us a chance to use our imagination. We layer the common, everyday stuff with a bit of sparkle and cheer. It is a season that allows us the ability to reconnect with memories we hold dear.

This year I challenged myself to add a few more coastal touches to my holiday decorations. Things like shells and leaves that I could find outside added to my signature “Decorating with memories”. I really like how it all came together. I call it Old World Charm, Meets The Empty Nest.

Coastal & minimalist look

A coastal, minimalist look. Created with memories from Christmas past.

A box my son painted to hold gift coupons, a Christmas pillow made by my grandmother and an authentic wall wool warmer from overseas

I love how all these special items seems to have the same kinds of texture and patterns!

Oak tree leaves

I love how my homemade garland from oak tree leaves came out.

An ornament from my daughter, my trusty glue gun, a sweet tree display adds those Christmas touches to my mantle. The best part is the puppy can not get to them.

Special ornament

Why not hang a special ornament from a picture? The dried flowers adds that natural touch with a bit of whimsy.

Old typewriter

This “decorating with memories’ in action! This type writer belongs to my son. Why pack it way, when it can used! It’s such a cool piece and looks great on my bookshelf. Add a family photo and it becomes extra special.
